Funding Your Church Plant
Description
Funding Your Church Plant
Should an Independent Baptist Accept Funds from the SBC?
Church planting has historically been one of the great areas of cooperation among independent Baptist churches, as they give to individual church planters and missionaries to work toward the common goal of the Great Commission. Indeed, church planting is needed today more than ever. There are countless cities around the world, including in the United States, that have no gospel-preaching, soulwinning Baptist churches.
How then are these new churches to be funded? And are all sources of funding equal? Is there any reason an independent Baptist church planter should hesitate before accepting funds from the North American Mission Board (NAMB) of the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC)?
In these pages, Paul Chappell shares biblical principles related to funding a new church plant with a big-picture view and a long-range perspective.
