God has given you a gift! A pastor - a loving under-shepherd to encourage, edify, and equip your life for spiritual growth and fruitfulness. Yet, many pastors are quitting - some from failure or discouragement, and others from the relentless pursuit of antagonistic church members.
Many Christians do not have a biblical understanding of a loving, strong pastoral relationship. There is no doubt that the Devil fights this relationship! After all, this is the man who will teach and preach the Word of God to your family. This is one of the few who will weep with you when you hurt, encourage you when you fail, seek you when you wander, and pray for you throughout your Christian journey.
Wise Christians find and establish strong relationships with godly pastors and then they fight for those relationships. They encourage their pastors, accept his spiritual watch care in their lives, and support him in his call to serve God.In these pages, you will understand the blessings in store and the challenges ahead in your relationship with your pastor!
(48 pages, mini paperback)
I loaned this book to prospective church members as an introduction to having a proper relationship with me, their future pastor. They read and re-read the book. "Everyone in our church needs to read this!" they exclaimed. "People need to know how to relate to their pastor. No one (in the Anglican church) relates to their minister in this way. They may have in years past, but they don't anymore. Is there any way you can get more of these (books) to give out to our church?" Enough said. Thank you Pastor Chappell and Pastor Schmidt! Our new church gives this book and some others to all new members. It's written by Pastor Paul Chappell and Pastor Cary Schmidt of Lancaster Baptist Church.
The fresh perspective from the Word of God was a great encouragement to me. It helps you identify a Godly Pastor who leads according to the scriptures. It encourages you to find a good church with a Pastor you can trust and teaches you how to scripturally serve under your Pastor in Godly submission.
It's a good summary of a pastor's responsibility and the responsibility of the church member to the pastor. Josiah Kuenzi on May 4, 2009
